🇮🇹 Lana, South Tyrol, Italy
Accessible only by cable car from Lana village, Vigilius sits at 1,500m with views across the Merano basin. The spa is the best in South Tyrol. Parking for bikes is in the valley — secure, covered, and 20 minutes from the Stelvio base. It's the right hotel after a day on the passes: quiet, considered, and slightly removed from the world below.

🇨🇭 Adelboden, Switzerland
Covered underground parking means bikes are dry and secure regardless of weather. The 7am breakfast gets you on the Susten before the day-trippers. The spa — particularly the outdoor pool — is worth a dedicated non-riding day.
🇨🇭 Lucerne, Switzerland
Lucerne is the best Swiss city for a rest day mid-tour. The Hotel has a secure underground garage and an excellent restaurant. Susten and Furka are 90 minutes out — stay two nights and use one day for the passes.
Base Camp
🇮🇹 Bormio, Italy
The operational base for Stelvio and Gavia. 6:30am breakfast means you're on the pass before 8am. Internal courtyard parking for bikes is secure and free. Bormio also has thermal baths — a solid option after a day on the Gavia.
🇨🇭 Andermatt, Switzerland
Andermatt is the best single base for Swiss pass riding. Furka in 15 minutes, Susten in 25, Gotthard in 10. Multiple hotels at all price points. The new Chedi development adds premium options. Underground heated parking at most properties.
Fjord View
🇳🇴 Flåm, Norway
The starting point for Norway's Atlantic Road and Sognefjord loop. Secure bike parking, fjord views, and ferry access for loop routing. Book 6–8 weeks in advance for July — this fills quickly. The Aurlandsfjord is visible from most rooms.
🇦🇹 Zell am See, Austria
The natural base for the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse. The toll road starts 45 minutes from Zell am See. Lakeside location means you can ride in the morning and swim in the afternoon. Several hotels with covered bike parking.
"The best hotel is the one that understands why you're there — and doesn't make you feel like your motorcycle is an inconvenience."
